LORRAINE WELSH

ADHD Performance & Specialist Occupational Therapist

Bridging the gap between diagnosis and daily success through Occupational Performance Coaching (OPC) and Sensory-Functional Assessments.

It’s not a lack of ability, it’s a mismatch of environment.

Occupational therapists, when looking at how someone navigates the world, considers the person themselves, the environment they are in, and the tasks they are doing; the interaction of these factors results in the performance level of tasks, and illustrates particular areas of excellence and challenges.

In maximising the potential of a person to perform to the best of their ability, how they experience the world can be assessed through sensory analysis – how you interpret what you see, hear, touch, taste, and feel within yourself. How you think about and process information about tasks – that inbox that constantly pings or the laundry that’s still wet in the washing machine – can also be assessed to give a full picture of the unique individual you are and the best way to make the world make sense to you.

This also means looking at the systems you use at work, your immediate work environment, whether this is hot-desking or your kitchen table, and the resources you have around you; and ultimately the tasks themselves, be they very practical or heavy on administration.

As a result, when the person, the environment, and the task list are brought into alignment, the performance can be enhanced.

Or at least make more sense.

About Me

I’m Lorraine, a Specialist Occupational Therapist with a decade spent in mental health services and a passion for promoting optimal performance in neurodiverse individuals.

I am not a traditional ‘coach,’ and instead use my clinical background to analyse the complex relationship between your unique sensory profile, your environment, and the important tasks you perform every day. My goal is to help you move from coping to thriving through Occupational Performance Coaching.
